Welcome to Selborne Golf Club

Where history and luxury converge on the greens. Crafted with the utmost attention to detail, the homestead utilized only the finest materials imported from England, creating a timeless structure that now stands as the cornerstone of our esteemed golf club.

Step onto our meticulously manicured greens and relive the rich history that shapes Selborne Golf Club, where tradition meets modern elegance in a timeless celebration of the sport we hold dear.

Nestled within the lush expanse of Selborne Park, our golf course has a storied past that traces back to the year 1954 when Vernon Crookes built the Selborne homestead as the official residence for Reynolds Brothers Ltd.

In 1964, Mr. Crookes retired and transformed the estate into Selborne Park, a personal haven encompassing 80 hectares of graceful landscapes. The iconic whippet, featured in our estate logo, pays homage to the Lord Selborne family crest, adding a touch of heritage to our prestigious grounds.

The legacy continued in 1979 when Denis Baker acquired the estate for his family and the operation of Fayden Jersey Stud farm.

Inspired by a golfing experience during a visit to the USA in 1982, Denis envisioned transforming Selborne into a luxury golfing complex. His dream materialized in 1985 with the opening of the course in May 1987, marking the birth of the first residential golf estate in South Africa.

From humble beginnings, with old railway carriages serving as change rooms and halfway houses, to the transformation of the homestead into a Lodge, Selborne Golf Club has evolved into a symbol of sophistication. The journey continued with the construction of a new clubhouse in 1989, and by 1992, nine luxury garden suites and a conference center seating 100 delegates were added to the Lodge, creating a 16-roomed guest house.

Our upcoming events promise thrilling competition, camaraderie, and the chance to test your skills on our prestigious course.
